As a follow-up to Kevin Graff's post, and for those who are interested in
timing, the Neotropic Cormorant was in view on the previously described log from
about 0700-0820 this morning. The early morning light was good and the
distance wasn't as bad as I expected.
After the cormorant swam out of sight, some of the group of birders (which
included a few Virginians) re-convened at Hughes Hollow. There was a great
assortment of good birds here, including some late migrants, and it was a beautiful
morning to be out. Before heading home I stopped at Lilypons but found it
pretty quiet except for 2 Osprey and 3 very large but very distant corvids.
