Cromwell Valley Park HawkWatch Sunday , October 30th 2005

On Saturday the 29th no count was conducted at CVP, but other hawkwatches in the Mid- Atlantic
region reported great Red-tailed flights and good Golden eagle flights. Two of the best were
Waggoners Gap PA with 276 RTs and 12 GEs, and Hawk Mountain PA with 646 RTs and 7 GEs. Our
hopes were high for a good flight here at CVP on Sunday, but a clear blue sky made it extremely
difficult to pick out the migrants. Several Red-shouldered hawks came in fairly low and gave us
good views, and we may have seen two Peregrine falcons flying low and in a northerly direction
over the park. Three of us counted birds from 10:30am until 1:15pm.

CVP Hawkwatch TOTALS 10/30/2005
Red-tailed hawk - 50
Red-shouldered hawk - 12
Sharp-shinned hawk - 17
Coopers hawk - 4
Kestral - 4
N. Harrier - 3
