Hi all --
Barry and I drove over to Terrapin Park, Queen Anne's Co, this monringn -- one of our favorite spots. However, when we got there it was unexpectedly windy -- it's not very windy here in Colesville -- and the park maintenance people had also decided today was the day to mow the wildflower meadow (which seems very early, I hope they know what they're doing...) -- so all in all, rather slow.
However, a welcome highlight was a flock of 6 PURPLE FINCHES (two "pinkies" and 4 "brownies") heard calling and singing, then sitting up for good views. Otherwise the usual Myrtle Warblers, Tree Sparrows, Golden-crowned Kinglets, Field and Chipping Sparrows, and not much else. A procession of Turkey Vultures flying high and south, over the Bay looked like migrants.
I think tomorrow we will go into that "region to the south" and look for the LeConte's Sparrow seen there today.
