I stopped by Conowingo Dam this morning since I was in the area for
other reasons.

There were about 30 Bald Eagles there. Some were putting on a pretty
good show chasing each other around and flying over the observation deck
and parking area. There were 3 people there taking pictures with long
lenses, so they should have gotten some great shots.

There were about 50 DC Cormorants out on the rocks. With the report of a
Neotropical Cormorant on the Potomac, I tried to look through them for
another species but since I did not have my scope with me, I could not
do an adequate appraisal.

I estimate about 700 gulls in the area with about 300 in the air at a
time and the rest sitting on the rocks and dam spillway. Again, without
a scope, I could not do an adequate job of picking out any rarities but
the only thing I saw other than the 3 usual suspect species were 2
immature Laughing Gulls. There were no Bonaparte's or other small gulls.

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
