Hi Folks!
 
I had a lone Northern Rough-winged Swallow at the marsh at North Beach yesterday evening. I would urge everyone to check out swallows in the next several days.  The steady southwest winds have apparently taken Cave Swallows into the Great Lakes.  The next cold front, extpected later this week, should push some on them to Maryland.  
 
Although there were a number of Cave Swallows reported last Fall, more were seen then actually documented with photos or good written descriptions.  I know from experience that getting photos of swallows is very difficult and have found that my video camera can get eough to confirm an identification.
