I checked Piney Run Park this afternoon. The highlight was an EARED GREBE that was seen from White Rock Road swimming with a flock of Ruddy Ducks through the Narrows and out of sight into the main body of the lake. This second county record (the previous one was in 1982) overshadowed the other highlight, a pair of SURF SCOTERS. All chickadees were Carolinas.
The park is open with no charge on weekdays. On weekends it is usually closed but you can park outside the gate and walk in.
