Hi all,

How about an Ipod with all of the North American bird songs on it? It has proven to be invaluable in the field.

Rick, I had a complaint the other day from one of the MDOsprey group about the fact that not enough information is given for many of the sites referenced in messages--where they are, how best to access them, etc. Part of my response was that the confused individual should get a copy of the DeLorme MD/DE Atlas and use the place-name index. Perhaps it wouldn't be amiss to write a column on the "well-equipped field birder's bag of goodies"?

Mine contains the ADC maps for all the counties I'm liable to visit on a given weekend, the DeLorme Atlas, a couple of field guides, and the Yellow Book. Others might carry other favorites, like FRS radios, a compass, a small tape recorder, a PDA with birdlisting software, etc. Others might bring along even more (have you ever seen the trunk of Bob Ringler's car or what Jim Stasz carries on the roof of his?).

I would like to invite all of you here on MDOsprey to shower Rick (and the rest of us) with the contents of YOUR field bag (or backpack, or automobile trunk, etc.). We might all get some ideas from the list!

Norm
