On this beautiful Sunday morning, twenty-two birders turned out for a
Wye Island visit that was led by Danny Poet. It seemed as if lots of birds
were around throughout the morning. A total of fifty-six species was
recorded. After the birding, most of the group adjourned to the home of
Erney and Margaret Maher for a delicious brunch.
    Birding highlights:
Tundra Swan - family group of four - first of the season for many of
our group
American Pipits - a flock of at least 10 and perhaps as many as 20
gave suitable views and provided life birds for several of our group
        Winter Wren
Ring-necked Pheasant - seen very briefly, but heard by many of the
group
        Horned Lark
        Meadow Lark
        Palm Warbler (yellow race)
        Purple Finch
Ducks - Bufflehead, Black, Ruddy and Mallard
        Bald Eagles - 2
        Northern Harrier
        Cooper's Hawk
         Kestrel
        Red-tailed Hawk
Sparrows - Song, White-throated, Field, Chipping and Junco
