My reason for going to the Trout Run WWTP was to refind the Snow Bunting that was found yesterday by Fran Pope. Not very good chances but I decided to go anyway. Nearing the end of Norris Welch Rd just past the big oak on the left, I slowed my car down to a creep and was looking at some sparrows on the sides of the road. Several groups of Canada Geese were flying from north of the lagoons to the west. In the middle of the first group was a Richardson's Goose, my first for the county. I got a couple crummy photos. I started creeping my car slowly forward again, stopping to look at the sparrows in the road. The sun had already set, when a small whitish-brown bird with white wing patches flew by several feet away from my open window and landed in the road in front of me. Snow Bunting! This was the same place where Fran had the bird yesterday. The bird didn't mind photos but the light was fading fast and made for unfriendly conditions. At about 520 pm, the bird got up and flew a short distance into the field on the East side of Norris Welch Rd. Cool bird, thanks Fran. A link to a couple pictures is below:
