Had a good woodpecker day - 4 species. Also, the new
boardwalk at Dyke Marsh rocks. Here are the 29 (mostly
common) species I spotted in alphabetical order.

American Crow - 1
Belted Kingfisher - 1 (Roach's Run)
Canada Goose
Carolina Chickadee - 11
Carolina Wren - 7
Cedar Waxing Flock - 25 (TR Island)
Chipping Sparrow - 1
Downy Woodpecker - 2
European Starling - numerous
Golden-crowned kinglet - 2
Great Blue Heron - 6
Hairy Woodpecker - 3
Herring Gull - numerous
House Finch - numerous
Laughing Gull - 1
Mallard - numerous
Mourning Dove - 10
Northern Blue Jay - 1
Northern Cardinal - 4
Northern Mockingbird - 1
Pileated Woodpecker - 2
Red Bellied Woodpecker - 3
Red winged blackbird - 20
Red-shouldered hawk - 1 (Dyke Marsh)
Ring Billed Gull - 6
Thrush (couldn't ID the exact species)
Tufted Titmouse - 2
White Breasted Nuthatch - 2
White Throated Sparrow – 6

PS Birders and Theodore Roosevelt enthusiasts should
try and read River of Doubt. I'm about half way
through, and the pages turn easily. Birds are not a
central focus of the book, but they do enter the text
here and there. What I like about the book is that it
is a good tale of the wild.
