The Crisfield Christmas Count will be held December 27th. I cover Irish
Grove Sanctuary and surrounding areas. Anyone interested in joining me for
the day, please contact me off line. Not only is the birding usually good,
but you get to learn about one of the MOS sanctuaries.
As in the past, there will be a tally dinner at my house following the
count. Directions to the house are below:
As you go north on Rt. 13, take the bypass (which is Rt. 13 - left exit)
rather than Business 13 (the old road). Very shortly after getting on the
bypass is an exit for Rt. 513 – St. Lukes Road. Exit there and take the
RIGHT fork of the ramp so that you are heading southeast on St Lukes
Road. Turn LEFT on Jackson Road off St. Lukes Road. This is immediately
after the end of the ramp (about 10 yards) from Rt. 13, so be careful not
to miss it. Go 1.2 miles on Jackson Road and turn RIGHT on Deer Harbour
Road. Go 0.1 miles and turn RIGHT on Devonshire. Go 0.8 miles on
Devonshire. It is the 6th house on the left after Five Friars Drive. The
tally up sign will be in the front yard. Enter through the door by the
garage.
I can vouch for Glen Lovelace's statement that all 3 nuthatches are
possible on the Salisbury count. Last year I had all 3 species while
standing at the same spot - the only time in 43 years of birding that I
have accomplished this.
