Hello all.
Today, I decided to bird the new Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Park, located
about one half of a mile from Ft. Smallwood Park. It is a great piece of
land and has some habitat that is quite impressive when one considers that
it's in a developed area. E-mail me off list for more info if you're
interested.
Highlights:
Weinberg Park:
RED-HEADED WOODPECKER: 1 Juvenile. Foraging and calling often. I was
looking out over the Patapsco river when I heard its call...thinking my
ears were decieving me, I turned and he/she was about 20 feet up an old
snag. Great bird to see.
L. Scaup: c. 100 Raft close to shore
Canvasback: c. 250
LONG-TAILED DUCK: 1 male. Actively foraging about 100 feet out and solitary.
