Bob Augustine asked me to post this message in case anybody using year-end
leave wants to see this phenomenon, and maybe watch for something outrageous
such as a Redwing or a Fieldfare. Don't laugh, a Rewing was found in Rhode
Island on 12/26 and seen again yesterday 2 3/4 miles away, both times with a large
flock of Robins. Got your attention? Bob's message:

A grove of bamboo in Kensington, MD, has been hosting an enormous number of
Robins from 4-5 PM every day since October. The location, just one block off
Connecticut Ave. on Glenrose St. on the south side of Kensington, was just
recently discovered. There are no Robins there during the day, and the roost
empties out before sunup. Although the birds stream in from all directions,
one flight comes down Rock Creek Park. This flight alone numbers about 1800
birds and originates as much as 10 or 12 miles to the north near Goshen.
