Hi,

I stopped at Horsehead wetland yesterday on my way back from seeing the
Harlequin Duck on the Choptank (and from not seeing the White Pelicans at
Blackwater).

Horsehead had a good variety of waterfowl, including a Drake Eurasion
Wigeon on Lake Knapp - probably the same one reported earlier by Jim
Brighton.

The channel had Oldsquaw, Surf and Black Scoter, Lake Knapp had Am Wigeon,
Gadwall, Ruddies and Hooded Mergs, and Marshy Creek had Canvasbacks, Scaup,
Buffleheads, and a Redhead.

There was also a Cackling Goose reported from the pond viewable from inside
their visitor center. I quickly spotted a small goose before it wandered
out of sight. It had a square head and a stubby bill. It was not quite as
small as I would have liked, and I did not get a good look at its back, but
I expect that it is a Cackling Goose.

Tom
