  Greetings All,
   
  A 90-minute morning walk at 8 a.m.at the National Wildlife Visitor Center today produced a good variety of woodland birds and a few waterfowl.
  Weather – Calm, clear, warm
   
  Canada Geese  ~50  (most were probably over at the Ag  
                                       Center in Beltsville)
  Mallard – 6
  Am Black Duck – 8
  Ring-necked Duck - ~ 40
  Ruddy Duck – 6
  Mourning Dove - ~40 (mostly around the feeders)
  N. Flicker – 2
  Red-bellied Woodpecker – 1
  Yellow-bellied Sapsucker – 1 (adult)
  Downy Woodpecker – 2
  Pileated Woodpecker (heard drumming) *
  Blue Jay – 7 (mostly around feeders)
  Am Crow – 2
  Carolina Chickadee – 4
  Tufted Titmouse - 4
  White-breasted Nuthatch – 2
  Brown Creeper – 1
  Am Robin - ~50 (mostly flyovers)
  Eastern Bluebird – 2
  Golden-crowned Kinglet - 2
  Eur. Starling – 2
  Song Sparrow – 4
  White-throated Sparrow – 8
  Dark-eyed Junco – 22 (many around feeders)
  House Finch – 2 (at feeder)
  Am Goldfinch – 12 (several at feeder)
   
  *A visitor reported having seen  a total of 7 Pileated Woodpeckers before I met up with him at 9:30.
   
  (no raptors/vultures were seen)
