Sorry for the delayed posting, but I thought it would be worthwhile to let
everyone know that as of late afternoon 1/10.06 there were still 3 American
White Pelicans in the river by the Wildlife Drive at Blackwater NWLR. They
were visible about 3/4 of the way up the Drive where rather wide expanses
of river are visible, huddled down on a bit of mud flat, perhaps 200 yards
from the drive. Most of the time their bills were tucked under their wings
and wings were folded, so they looked merely like large white mounds.
The immature male Harlequin Duck was seen at about noon at the Marina in
Cambridge, in the boat area itself, consorting with 9 female Buffleheads.
