Pretty amazing to find a snake in January. Although to hear a frog is not
quite as unusual, I was surprised this morning to hear a wood frog singing
behind our house (10 am). In past years (many), I have heard an
occasional spring peeper making call notes in January (in fact every
month), but this is the first (to my memory) wood frog I've heard in
January. I listened carefully to confirm what I was hearing; it repeated
its call for a duration of several minutes and then stopped. Also of note
(bird info!), while I was out (~5 minutes), I heard a tufted titmouse
repeating its spring (breeding) song. My porch therm. (in shade) reading
was 54.6 degrees F.
