We had a few good birds on miles 134-135 during yesterday's canal count.
(This is the segment between locks 54 and 56 in Washington County.)
American Black Duck
Red-shouldered Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
Belted Kingfisher
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Winter Wren
Eastern Bluebird
Hermit Thrush
Brown Creeper
There were also a lot of pileated woodpeckers in the area. We only saw
one, but we could hear them calling on either side of the towpath for
the length of the two-mile segment.
