In a mirror image of last weekend, today a friend and I saw the
Am. White Pelicans at Blackwater, and missed the Harlequin Duck
at Cambridge.

Thanks to all who provided positive and negative info on the
Pelicans and Barnacle Goose (we lacked time to do the latter).

We checked both sides of the Cambridge marina from roughly 0800 on,
no sign of the Harlequin. But close in views of many Surf Scoters,
one Black Scoter, gabbling Long-tailed Ducks, and Greater Scaup.
C. Goldeneye were distant. And the Canvasback rafts (with a few
scaup) from Oakley St. west were once again impressive. No Redheads,
but there were a few Am. Wigeon.

We got to Blackwater around 1000, and headed quickly toward the site
of the Am. White Pelicans. We spotted two large white lumps, distinctly
larger than the nearby Tundra Swans, this was from BEFORE the turn off
to rt. 355. And then one briefly raised it's head. As we continued
round the bend, they'd hunkered down again.

After noon, we set off in pursuit of Golden Eagle sightings logged in the
1000 time frame, on Decoursey Bridge Rd. and Bestpitch Ferry Rd. After
a nice circuit with multiple Bald Eagle sightings, and an OSPREY from
Pennsylvania (license plate, not a bird), we called it a day, alas with not
Goldens (though one immature Bald had us going for a while).

Numbers of Snow Geese at Blackwater were impressive, including the most
Blues I've ever seen. Could not trick out any smaller ones.

John, thanks for the tip on the Cackling you saw on Key Wallace, but
we were unable to locate one.

An interesting sight was a Turkey Vulture trying to filch an apparent
rodent from an immature male N. Harrier along Bestpitch.
