I bought my wife, Diane, a new Nikon D50 digital camera for Christmas.  She loves it.  Phase two was to get a Fujinon spotting scope (good review in BWD) and start doing some serious bird photography.  To my amazement -- and chagrin -- I've been told that neither Nikon nor Fujinon make adapters to connect the two.

The salesperson who told me this is pushing Nikon spotting scopes by saying that with compatibility issue is most easily resolved by matching it with the Nikon camera.  He also believes that the Nikon ED scope is as good or better than its Fujinon competitor. I really have my heart set on the Fujinon scope.

Does anyone have some advice for us?  A local specialty store?  A web site to visit?
