In previous years, only the gold & house finches have used the nyger
feeder. This year, it has been swarmed by the house sparrows and
yesterday, I saw the Carolina wren use it a couple times.
We also have a catbird which is gradually polishing off our viburnum
berries. It started with the yellow berries on V.dilatatum "Michael
Dodge" and moved to the red-berried V.dilatatum "Erie" only after all
the yellow berries were gone.
A non-MD request: We are looking for information from anyone with
experience birding Germany in the spring. We will be using Bonn as a
base and may also be making forays into Holland.
