Franny discovered the following today on a Norwegian photographic website:

Breaking news: Canon to introduce new 10 Mp EOS 35D at press conference in
Oslo February 21?

(8.2.2006) www.fotografi.no is a Norwegian website run by magazine
Fotografi. We bring the latest news on the Canon EOS 35D also in English
since the news attract a lot of international readers for the moment. Canon
Norway has announced that they will introduce a new DSLR on February 21.
Reports indicate a 10 Mp 1,3 camera, but these specifications are not yet
confirmed.

The invitation from Canon Norway to photo press journalists in Norway
states though that Canon in fact will introduce a "new" DSRL. Canon will
also present new lenses (they are not spesific on the number), compact
cameraes, projectors, printers and multi purpose machines.
The name of the new DSLR will most probably be Canon EOS 35D. Normally
Canon change excisting models approx. every 18 months. Canon EOS 20D was
launched in August 2004. EOS 35D will replace EOS 20D.

What features will EOS 35D most probably have? Obvioulsy there will be more
pixels. With 10 Mp sensor the camea will not compete with EOS 5D which have
12 Mp. If the EOS 35D have 12 Mp or more, it will probably not be a full
format sensor, but will defenitely compete with other consumer DSLRs on the
market. The introduction of new lenses may suggest a 1,3x factor, othervise
we will most probably see a sensor with 1,6x factor. Our latest information
indicates a 10 Mp (CMOS) 1,3x camera, but these spesifications are not yet
confirmed.

Two independent sources have now confirmed that the pictures we publish
(please see the Norwegian version) show the real camera.

Since many of us are now using the Canon D10 or D20, I think there may be a
lot of upgrades going on over the next few months.
