Point Lookout State Park - 3/4/06

Hello Everyone,

In search of interesting places to bird, I crossed the river today for some 
birding in MD and decided to take a stab at Point Lookout SP.

I had never been to Point Lookout and didn't know fully what to expect, but 
my sense is that my species list is typical for that area.  There was a 
fair amount of wind even away from the water, which may have kept songbird 
numbers lower.  I did find two BROWN-HEADED NUTHATCHES in the pines, 
several CHIPPING SPARROWS, a PINE WARBLER, and a COMMON LOON already near 
full breeding plumage (which are always nice to see).  Two species of 
Scoter were found, and a raft of perhaps a dozen unidentified distant Scaup 
were noted, though the one Scaup that was close enough to ID was a GREATER 
SCAUP hanging out with some BLACK SCOTERS.  Otherwise, duck numbers were 
low.  The list is below.
