Yesterday evening while working in the tower at BWI I noticed a bird fly
by the tower at an altitude of about 300 feet. The bird was illuminated
by the lights around the terminal. A look through the binoculars
revealed the bird to be a Barn Owl. Having not seen any in the area all
winter (although there are plenty of pines to provide habitat on the
airport) I assume that this is a migrant. The bird was from the
southeast to the northwest.
