Folks

Yesterday, last night, and this morning I had hundreds of Tundra Swans migrate by the house. At one point I imagined a scene from Hitchcock's "Birds" the birds were so loud. It was really cool. One flock around 8 PM was very low and you could hear the subtle vocalization of individuals.

Also today five species of woodpeckers. Only Red-headed and Pileated were absent. Also lots of Canada Geese flying north and very high - that's were they were flying for all those old hippies. Large flocks of American Robins are also moving, but not as many as the Tundra Swan waves. Spring may have arrived.

Yesterday the highlight at Sycamore Landing was a male Rusty Blackbird. I don't know who found the bird, but several of us got close images of this now rare winter visitor. I hope we can find out why the population has crashed and correct the situation. Folks should report any Rusty Blackbirds they encounter so scientist can look at the data available.

Happy Spring.
George
