Back in Dec, I was in Chicago & picked up a copy of Great Lakes
Bulletin (published by the Naval presence on the Great Lakes) at my
hotel. A photo article on Lake Michigan wild life identified a Least
Tern as a Common Tern, a Great Egret as a Snowy Egret and a Rail as a
Sandpiper (looked like a Clapper to me, but I don't have a lot of
experience with rails and Sibley's map says Clappers aren't up there).
On the Maryland side, we had a great weekend for Red-shouldered Hawks in
the north central Balt Co area. We had three different locations with
RS Hawks defending territory and three other locations with single RS
Hawks calling. We also had crows in two different Atlas blocks carrying
nesting materials, a winter wren and a creeper.
