Tonight when I got home (dusk) and stepped out of my truck, before I even
shut the door I nearly levitated, when I heard a woodcock calling from so
close it was LOUD! It sounded almost too loud to be a woodcock, and I
walked a few feet toward the sound. It was too dark to see the bird.
While standing there, it made several more calls (~3 minutes), then
finally revealed itself by flying up infront of me. This guy was
impressively steadfast, and sure was a welcome sight to come home to! I
couldn't believe it didn't fly when I drove up and parked.

I heard many other bird species calling, though it was getting quite dark,
and frogs were calling half-heartedly. I saw two flights of about 75-100
(each) of Canada geese, way up high, headed ~ WNW.
