This morning a drive down to Black Walnut Point on Tilghman Island, Talbot
County, was rewarded by a sighting of one Forster's Tern - on one of the
poles of a pound net arrangement visible from the parking area.
Also:
Good views of all three Scoter species
A beautiful scene provided by a group of over 200 Tundra Swans flying
upstream only about 50 feet above the waters of the Bay
    A singing Brown Thrasher
    A young Red-shouldered Hawk
A sprinkling of other ducks - Goldeneye, Long-tailed Ducks, Buffleheads
and Lesser Scaup
    At least 10 Double-crested Cormorants

Later this afternoon at Pickering Creek -
    Wood Ducks - 5 (fly-over)
Wilson's Snipe - 2 - at the end of the newest of the ponds
    Killdeer - 3
    Bluebirds singing - several

At home beside my driveway:
    Brown Thrasher
    Fox Sparrow
(both of the above have been around here through the winter)
    Eastern Towhee

In this part of Talbot County the Canada Geese are gathering into very large
flocks and are spending nearly all of their time out in the fields eating.
Some look quite well fed and ready for the migration move that is likely to
come very soon.
