Today at about 4:30PM I saw two adult peregrines outside our building in
Silver Spring (@ Colesville Rd x E-W Highway); they were chasing each
other! I had a limited brief view (two passes) and only saw them when
they passed by on my side of the building. I was near the top of the
building and they passed at eye level; they were both adults. I know it's
early for Atlas safe dates, but am hopeful that this was some sort of
courtship/pair bonding; I have my fingers crosed!
There have been many sightings of peregrines in this area and Bethesda,
Rockville, etc., especially during winter; With all the tall buildings it
seems like it is a natural place for a pair to attempt nesting.
This was the first time I have ever seen two adults together here.
