Friday morning along the ORV on Assateague Island: 2 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls. About 80 Surf Scoters in small flocks along the shore, about 90 Northern Gannet fairly close in. This is probably a gross undercount but the numbers were still way down from 3-4 weeks ago. Also saw 6 Oystercatchers in three separate pairs, not far from the Virginia line. The marshes at Big Levels (not sure about this name--entrance about 5 miles south of the ORV entrance) were bone dry--we need some rain.

Friday morning, neighborhood ponds in Mystic Harbor: Ring-necked Duck and Ruddy Duck still present, a lone Snowy Egret (our first of the year in Maryland), and a lone Dunlin feeding along the edge of the pond.

Saturday morning, in the rain, in marshes surrounding the Isle of Wight: 10 Great Egrets (largest group we've encountered this winter/spring)

Other than that, all the usual suspects. Happy Vernal Equinox to everyone.
