We just had a nice yard bird go through, an adult Red-tailed Hawk
that swooped past the bird feeder where the squirrels like
to freeload. It was very close and low, so we had a great look at its
back and red tail. I don't think we've ever had a red-tail IN the yard,
as opposed to soaring overhead. It did not get the squirrel, by the way.

I am going to be in Amherst, Virginia for several days, and
would like to know if there are good birding sites I should
check out while I am down there. If you know, please respond
offlist, thanks.
