Blue Mash Nature Trail, Zion Road Section, Montgomery County, 23 Mar 06,
0730-0930

Although sunny, the weather remained cold and windy during this morning's
walk, which impacted the number of birds observed. There was skim ice on
standing water, not quite what one would expect this time of year. 30
species observed. The ponds held Canada Goose, Mallard, Ring-necked Duck
and Bufflehead. Early migrants included several Tree Swallow and 1 E.
Phoebe. 3 male Brown-headed Cowbird in a tree were vying for a female's
attention with their gurgling love song. 8 deer and 2 fox added to the mix.
