I got a bit of a surprise this afternoon at 6pm when I walked home through the park and among the Ring-billed Gulls over the pond (some call it a lake but it's really not large enough) were 4 Caspian Terns swooping around and occasionally chasing each other. Quite an odd setting for them, but the arrival of this hail and lightening storm at 7:45 explains it. Anyway, a new bird for the park and quite an unexpected one. Aren't they a bit early/
