Hi All,

After we read about the gannets at Eastern Neck we had to go down to have a look. No gannets at Ingleside today but it was pleasant enough birding.

Highlights were 7 Common Loons; 9 RED-THROATED LOONS; our first local Laughing Gull of the year; and a Merlin tearing northward over the waters offshore. Other birds of Eastern Neck Island were 2 Common Goldeneye; 7 Red-breasted Mergansers (there were 40 around on Saturday the first); a singing Common Yellothroat at the head of Boxes Pt. Trail; and a Yellow-throated Warbler at the head of Duck Inn Trail (along the road to Bogle's Wharf). Adding Yellow-rumped (Myrtle) and Pine we had a four-warbler day; must be spring.

In Rock Hall we found a SNOWY EGRET near the end of MD-20 in Gratitude, as well as a nest building Fish Crow. We also had our year-bird LEAST SANDPIPER at Great Oak Pd, where the Bonaparte's Gulls were joined by Barn Swallows skimming around the pond.

Good Birding,

Walter Ellison
