Hello all.

While on patrol at Ft. Smallwood today, I heard what I was sure was a RH
Woodpecker. About an hour later, I saw two of them foraging on the same
tree. I saw both of them again later in the day. I had seen one here about
three weeks ago and there have been several sightings of one to two birds
since then.

Weinberg Park, where a RHWO had wintered is lass than one half of a mile
away and I last located that bird on Wednesday, March 29th. Any birder who
plans on visiting the Hawkwatch at the Fort should definitely keep an eye
out for these birds!

The birds I saw today were found along the tree stand in the center of the
park, visible from the road leading to the water. As the road leads along
the fenced in pond, look to the left and note the large deciduous trees.
They were foraging actively there. If anyone has questions, feel free to e-
mail me.

Best regards,

Matt Grey
