Hi all --

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, DC, was fairly birdy today -- a little low on the waterbird/wader side but nevertheless a nice suite of early migrants. Highlights included:

Wilson's Snipe (6) -- most off end of boardwalk.
Greater Yellowlegs (2)
Killdeer (2)
Red-shouldered Hawk (1)
Osprey (2)
Bald Eagle (perched) - 1
Wood Duck (10-12)
Black Duck (1)
Eastern Phoebe (1)
COMMON YELLOWTROAT (singing male, first of year for us)
Palm Warbler, 1, yellow, singing
CATBIRD (6, first of year for us)
Hermit Thrush (2)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (6)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (12)
PURPLE FINCH (10, on River Trail, including a number of singing males)
RUSTY BLACKBIRD (15, on River Trail)
Chipping Sparrow (2-3)
Swamp Sparrow (6 or so, incl. singing males, one bird appeared to be carrying nesting material...)
many many White-throats, still lingering...

Plus the usual suspects...
