WEDNESDAY, April 19 — GWEN BREWER and GEORGE JETT present “Birds and Bats
in the Brazilian Amazon.” Explore the biodiversity of western Brazil
through photographs from a 12-day, 500-mile journey by boat down the
Amazon and its tributaries. Over 200 species of birds and 28 species of
bats were identified in the flooded forests. The natural history of this
rich bird and bat fauna will be presented and, in addition, a sampling of
tropical plants, insects, reptiles, fish, and other mammals.
The meeting will be held at the Potomac Presbyterian Church, 10301 River
Road (1/4 mile past Falls Road in Potomac). Directions are on the MBC
website. Doors open at 7:00 pm, meeting begins at 7:30. All are welcome.
