No, Betsy, you are not lazy - the writers who use the abbreviations are 
the lazy ones. Because they can't take one second to write out the full 
bird name, hundreds of readers are inconvenienced and spend who knows 
how much time trying to figure out what they meant.

Folks, unless you are entering data onto a bird banding form, please do 
not use the abbreviations. If you are trying to impart information to 
fellow birders, then impart it, don't make a puzzle out of it. If I want 
a puzzle, I will go to a sudoku web site.
