Northern Anne Arundel County: Oriole, 2 Vireo Species, etc.

Hello all. 

It was a good day to have off and Northern Anne Arundel County always 
provides for great birds. 

Highlights were many and varied today, and included Great Egret, Little 
Blue Heron, Baltimore Oriole, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Palm Warbler, Blue-
headed Vireo, White-eyed Vireo and many others. A fun day. The Oriole was a 
good surprise and I got a great look at it. 

Highlights:

Solley's Cove/Carbide Road Area: (Curtis Creek)

Double-crested Cormorant: 1
Great Blue Heron: 1
Red-shouldered Hawk: 1  Vocalizing and later seen
Herring Gull: 5
Great Black-backed Gull: 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet: 5  In the low trees along the road
Eastern Phoebe: 1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher: 2  Same area as the Kinglets
BLUE-HEADED VIREO: 2  Both heard and seen along the road to the VFW hall
WHITE-EYED VIREO: 1  Also heard in the same general area. 
Pine Warbler: 2  Singing
Eastern Towhee: 1
Chipping Sparrow: 1
White-throated Sparrow: 4
BALTIMORE ORIOLE: 1  Female. In a tree above the access road...nice!
American Goldfinch: 8  Coming through

Kembo Road: (off of Fort Smallwood Road)

Great Blue Heron: 2
LITTLE BLUE HERON: 1  Back in area for about 2 weeks now
Black Vulture: 1
Turkey Vulture: 2
Red-talied Hawk: 1
Cooper's Hawk: 1
Osprey: 2  Nest is active again
Tree Swallow: 9
Northern Rough-wing Swallow: 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet: 1
Eastern Phoebe: 1
Cedar Waxwing: 15
Brown Thrasher: 1  Always nice to see
Eastern Towhee: 4
White-throated Sparrow: 3
American Goldfinch: 6

Brandon Woods Pond: (Brandon Woods Industrial Park)

GREAT EGRET: 1  Foraging
LITTLE BLUE HERON: 1  Foraging
Hooded Merganser: 1 Male
Chipping Sparrow: 1  Along the roadside

Chestnut Hill Cove/North County Land Trust Parcel: (Between Ft. Smallwood 
and Nabb's Creek Road)

Great Blue Heron: 1  Flyover
Osprey: 1  Flyover
Cooper's Hawk: 1
Fish Crow: 4  
Blue Jay: 6
Red-bellied Woodpecker: 2
Northern Flicker: 1
Downy Woodpecker: 1
White-breasted Nuthatch: 2
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher: 3
Palm Warbler: 5 (yellow) Along the main trail
Hermit Thrush: 1  Still around
