The National Arboretum was very birdy this morning. I spent a couple
hours just in the Azalea Gardens. I did not cover much aside from that
hill. I heard more birds than I saw, but I did have some great looks at
the hooded warbler.

Here is a partial list:

Green Heron (flyover)
Chimney Swift
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Great Crested Flycatcher (heard only)
Northern Rough-winged Swallow
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Gray Catbird (heard only)
Brown Thrasher
Eastern Bluebird (heard only)
Hermit Thrush
Wood Thrush
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Northern Parula
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler (heard only)
Ovenbird (heard only)
Hooded Warbler
Chipping Sparrow
Field Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow

Good birding,

John Beetham
