Hello,
The morning began with a first for the year, a lone Solitary Sandpiper still sleeping a puddle from land night's rain. The puddle was among several puddles at the intersection of the service road on the south side of #50 and Holly Beach Farm Road. This area in the past has been a good place for pectoral sandpipers back before the police station was built. The puddles seem to be a big attraction this year. A Greater Yellowlegs was there yesterday.
In the park on the path to the holly forest, I saw the following migrants:
Bluegray Gnatcatchers 2
White-eyed Vireo 3
Blue-headed Vireo 2
Pine Warbler 4
Palm Warbler 3
Common Yellowthroat 2
Black& white Warbler 2
Hooded Warbler 1
Eastern Kingbird 1
I also saw the elusive Barred Owl I have only heard the last few weeks, a Sharp-shin Hawk, a Red -tailed Hawk, and a Hairy Woodpecker. As for lingering species, both White-throated sparrow and Yellow-rumped warblers were still in good numbers.
