Hi Folks,

I haven't seen a posting concerning the Big Sit at Lilypons yesterday, so
will post a few sightings from my three-hour walk there yesterday afternoon.
The ANHINGA was present on or near its favorite tree all afternoon
(1:30-4:30 p.m.). A VIRGINIA RAIL was calling from the last small pond on
the left as the main gravel road approaches the power lines (way back
there). While taking a 90-minute walk with Chuck Finley, we flushed an
AMERICAN BITTERN and got excellent views as it flew off to the south.
Later, near the first impoundment on the left along the gravel road, an
adult YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON stood handsomely on the dike between two
ponds. Among warblers, YELLOW WARBLER and N. PARULA were widespread and
vocal in appropriate habitat. We also heard a PROTHONOTARY WARBLER along
the river, and saw a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH at water's edge nearby. I missed
some of the other goodies picked up by other folks earlier in the day: Am.
Coot, Forster's Tern, and Rusty Blackbird.

Meanwhile back in the yard in Ferndale (Glen Burnie), AA Co., the following
newcomers for the year:

Bald Eagle--juvenile circling overhead on 4/18
E. Towhee--first arrival on 4/18, singing ever since
Chimney Swift--first flyover on 4/19
Tree Swallow-- ditto
RC Kinglet--two high up in the oak trees, 4/19
BG Gnatcatcher--pair up in the trees, 4/23
Black-throated Green Warbler--very vocal in the yard this morning (4/23)
