Hi Folks,

Elaine and I took a short walk around Southwest Area Park (SWAP), in SW
Baltimore Co., this evening, and heard a Pheasant crowing a couple of times.
Other birds there included:

Great Egret--2
Least Tern--3
E. Kingbird--1
Yellow Warbler--many singing
Common Yellowthroat--many singing
Savannah Sparrow--3
Swamp Sparrow--1
Orchard Oriole--male singing and delineating his territory, flying from tree
to tree

Back at home in our "almost urban" acre in Ferndale, AA Co., the past week
has brought the following new birds for the year:

Broad-winged Hawk--4/24
House Wren--4/26, began building a nest in a nest box the day of arrival
Gray Catbird--4/26
Black-and-white Warbler--2 on 4/26
BLUE GROSBEAK--1 feeding on ground under feeders on 4/26; new yard bird

After an absence of many days, we were surprised to find a RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCH and DARK-EYED JUNCO in our yard today (4/28).
