Hi --

Barry and I went to Kenilworth Park (as well as KAG) in hopes of my seeing the Vesper Sparrow(s) which he ticked up yesterday while I was out of town. We found one Vesper with about 8-10 Savannah Sparrows, but the highlight was a single GRASSHOPPER SPARROW in the sparrow flock. Probably only a migrant but it would be nice if breeding Grasshopper Sparrows returned to the park, as they have not bred any time during the current atlas project.

KAG was a bit quiet, no Bittern -- 6 Great Egrets, 2 Blue-winged Teal, 1 Spotted SP, 2 Warbling Vireos -- quite a few Swamp Sparrows and Yellowthroats singing. We did not do the River Trail.

Other birds of interest seen at Kenilworth Park:

1 Wilson's Snipe
1 Greater Yellowlegs
1 singing Blue Grosbeak (in front area)
1 Indigo Bunting (male, first of season for us)
1 Orchard Oriole (")
Field Sparrows heard only

Yesterday Barry had an Eastern Meadowlark but today it could not be relocated.
