Hans Holbrook and I looked unsuccessfully for the Anhinga this afternoon. We were both out of state this weekend and (perhaps) missed the opportunity to see this rarely-chaseable overshoot. As much as I wanted to see it, there was a little part of me that was glad that Hans didn't pass me in the state listing game ;)

I stopped by Little Bennett on the way and made a few stops. Lots of yearbirds at both locations

Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Yellow-throated Vireo
Ovenbird
Louisiana Waterthrush - 2
Northern Parula - 3
Mink - lifer!

Broad-winged Hawk soaring over the Beltway and Rt. 29, Eastern Kingbird near Conn Ave and the Beltway.

Lilypons:
Yellow-crowned Night-Heron
Great Egret - 6
Great Blue Heron - 12
Green Heron - 2
Greater Yellowlegs - 4
Lesser Yellowlegs - 4
Solitary Sandpiper - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 2
Wilson's Snipe - 10+
Broad-winged Hawk - 4
Osprey
Lots of Tree Swallows and Purple Martins
Northern Rough-winged Swallow
Bank Swallow
Yellow Warbler - 2
Northern Parula - 2
Myrtle Warbler
Orchard Oriole

On the way home I stopped by the Common Raven nest on Rt. 80, there were 2 birds in the nest and 1
perched in a tree along the road 1/2 mile west of the tower.
