Weather:
58-71 degrees; foggy skies gave way to partly cloudy skies and then became
clear in the later afternoon; poor to good visibility; westerly winds 5-15
mph.
Raptor Observations:
Swallow-tailed Kite!! One observed heading north at noon for about a
minute. Skies full of hawks most of the day, high, low and in between;
best Osprey, Harrier, Sharpie, Broadwing, and Merlin flights and daily
count of the season; all of the 14 Merlins between 1 and 6 p.m.; a great
day to be a hawkwatcher!
Non-raptor Observations:
First Ruby-throated Hummingbird of the season; Least Sandpiper; Long-tailed Duck; big push of swallows in the afternoon and a late afternoon Blue Jay flight.

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest.
