Greetings,

In answer to Michel Cavigelli's question, "What were the thrashers eating at the feeder?", one of the Thrashers was seen in a hanging feeder filled exclusively with peanut splits.

Later, I saw two together on the ground, and it was harder to tell what they were eating.

I find peanut splits to be the most popular item on the menu. Juncos eat them and I've seen a Hermit Thrush eat them, as well as the birds I was actually trying to attract with them. The same day I wrote - we also had a red fox eating them!

We had our first Hummingbird of the year at the feeder today;
also a Northern Parula singing in the yard. We had a pair of Brown Thrashers
- I've not seen them at the feeder before - and a single Junco. We still
have lots of White-throated Sparrows. Seeing several cowbirds, also;
about five males and one female today.
