The Chimney Swifts were late in arriving this year. I expect to see my

first swifts on April 15, what is TAX day for other people. Instead, 

I saw my first chimney swift overhead on April 23.

 

The Baltimore Bird Club had two scheduled chimney swifts trips this 

week. On April 23 we counted 630 swifts as they dove into the 

Bookbindery chimney in Hampden at dusk, between 8:12 and 8:20 

PM. Two nights later, on a gray and cloudy April 25, 545 swifts 

gradually dropped into that same chimney between 7:55 and 8:25 PM. 

I would expect the number of swifts to increase next week.
