I was able to get out briefly this morning (4/26) to Sycamore Landing Rd
and Hughes Hollow. At Hughes Hollow, I ran into Jim Green as he was
leaving, he did see the AMERICAN BITTERN this morning. He said it was
down toward the end of the main dike on the left side. Highlights for
me were LEAST BITTERN (heard only) and finally my lifer Bank Swallow,
which thankfully perched on a tree with some Tree and Barn Swallows. A
Common Moorhen was also in the main impoundment, along with some Ruddy
Ducks. Jim had a few female Bufflehead.
Off Sycamore Landing Rd (swampy part), I had some new year birds
including Great-crested Flycatcher, BT Green Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager.
