In the back section (after the barriers) section of Kenilworth Park I
had an amazing encounter. What I thought was a Yellow-Billed Cuckoo
turned around to reveal a life BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO. An instant later,
while still looking at the Cuckoo though my binoculars, a life BLUE
GROSBEAK flew into view just a few feet behind! Unreal. I got a
pretty good picture that can be found at http://birddc.blogspot.com.
The location was on the dry pond-bed on the far side of the stream.
To reach it, turn right after passing the barriers and climb the hill
and descend the far side. Watch for INDIGO BUNTINGS, YELLOWTHROAT,
RED EYED VIREOS and, unfortunately, ticks.
